October News fom the Nursery

Once again the main talking point on the nursery has been the weather, with something of everything. We have had some wild wet and windy days, some glorious warm Indian summer days and even the first frost of the autumn.

The warm still days have enabled us to get two polytunnels covered with just one more to do. Unfortunately this is one half of a twin span, which is always a daunting task.

Autumn is the ideal time to plant shrubs, the soil is still warm and we have finally had some rain, though more is needed after such a dry hot summer.

We still have good stocks of evergreen hedging such as Griselinia, Pittosporum and Euonymus, which if planted now will have time to get established before we have any severe cold winter weather.
