May 2018 News from the Nursery

At last some better weather forecast, so should be a good early May bank holiday weekend. There are lots of lovely plants available to create those stunning containers for summer displays. How about the summer long flowering shrubby Salvias - just right for a sunny spot.

A large container looks good with the silver and hazy blue of Perovskia atriplicifolia Blue Spire and the contrasting black evergreen leaves of Ophiopogon planiscapus Nigrescens, or for an exotic look, try planting a tub with Eucomis bicolor.

In a sunny border plant Anisodontea El Royo, which flowers continuously and makes a plant approximately 1 - 1.2 metres high.

Polygala myrtifolia Grandiflora also flowers all summer, has neat evergreen foliage and a rounded habit - good for a sunny spot where not a lot of height is required - grows to about 70-80 cm.
