Description
Elaeagnus × ebbingei ‘Limelight’ is a striking evergreen shrub with beautifully variegated foliage, making it an excellent choice for adding colour and structure to the garden throughout the year. Its large, leathery leaves are dark green around the edges with a bold, irregular golden-yellow centre, creating a bright and eye-catching display.
In autumn, small creamy-white flowers appear, filling the air with a sweet fragrance and providing an important late-season source of nectar. These may be followed by small orange-red fruits in favourable conditions.
‘Limelight’ is particularly well suited to coastal and exposed gardens, being highly tolerant of wind, salt spray and dry conditions once established. It forms a dense, bushy plant and responds well to pruning, making it useful for hedging, screening, windbreaks or as a colourful evergreen specimen.
