Description
A sun loving compact evergreen shrub producing a succession of papery, purplish-pink flowers which appear just above the evergreen foliage.
Cistus creticus is ideal for a small, sheltered border, but it will also flourish when potted up and placed on a sunny patio. An excellent choice for chalky soils or warm, coastal areas, it's said that the leaves have been used for centuries in Crete to create an aromatic tea.
Plant rock roses in well-drained soil and a sunny, sheltered spot, as they thrive in dry conditions and dislike heavy, wet ground. If the soil is poor, mix in horticultural grit to improve drainage.
