Description
An elegant evergreen climber grown for its attractive cream and green variegated foliage and masses of highly fragrant, star-shaped white flowers in late spring and summer. The colourful leaves provide year-round interest, often developing soft pink or bronze tints in cooler weather, while the sweetly scented blooms add beauty and perfume to the garden.
This twining climber reaches around 3–6 m (10–20 ft) with support and thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It is ideal for covering walls, fences, pergolas, and arches, or for growing in large containers where its decorative foliage can be appreciated throughout the year. Once established, it is relatively drought tolerant and requires only light pruning after flowering to maintain its shape.
Combining evergreen structure, colourful foliage, and intensely fragrant flowers, Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Variegatum' is an excellent choice for Mediterranean, cottage, and contemporary gardens, while its nectar-rich blooms also attract bees and other pollinators.
