Description
Fatshedera lizei is an unusual evergreen hybrid combining the attractive foliage of Fatsia with the climbing habit of Hedera. It produces large, glossy, deeply lobed, dark green leaves on upright, branching stems, creating a bold and architectural effect throughout the year.
Unlike true ivy, Fatshedera lizei does not naturally cling to walls, but its stems can be trained against a wall, fence or trellis for support. Small clusters of greenish-white flowers appear in autumn, followed by dark berries in favourable conditions.
A versatile plant for shady borders, woodland-style gardens, walls and containers, it is particularly useful where year-round foliage is required. It performs well in sheltered positions and is well suited to coastal gardens.
