Description
A dramatic evergreen succulent, prized for its large rosettes of deep burgundy to almost black fleshy leaves carried on branching stems. The rich foliage colour intensifies in full sun, providing striking architectural interest throughout the year. In spring, mature plants produce tall conical clusters of bright golden-yellow star-shaped flowers, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark foliage.
Perfect for coastal gardens, Mediterranean-style planting, gravel gardens and patio containers, this drought-tolerant plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. In most parts of the UK it is best grown in containers and protected from frost during winter, although it can be grown outdoors year-round in the mildest coastal locations with suitable protection.
