Description
A hardy, evergreen shrub native to the coastal regions of Australia. Valued for its dense, rounded growth habit, it features narrow, grey-green leaves that resemble rosemary, though it is not related to the culinary herb. Small white to pale lilac flowers bloom throughout much of the year, attracting bees and other pollinators.
Highly tolerant of drought, wind, salt spray, and poor soils, Westringia fruticosa is an excellent choice for coastal gardens, low-maintenance landscapes, hedging, screening, and container planting. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and requires minimal pruning to maintain its neat shape. Once established, it is exceptionally resilient and well suited to water-wise and Mediterranean-style gardens.
