Description
Fascicularia bicolor is a striking evergreen bromeliad forming a large, architectural rosette of narrow, leathery, blue-green leaves. As the plant matures, the inner foliage develops vivid red colouring before producing a cluster of small blue flowers in late summer or autumn, creating an impressive display.
An excellent choice for coastal and contemporary gardens, Fascicularia bicolor is particularly effective in rockeries, gravel gardens, raised beds and containers. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. Once established, it is surprisingly tough and tolerates exposed coastal conditions, drought and salt-laden winds.
