Description
A beautiful evergreen shrub, commonly known as the Chilean Lantern Tree, giving a spectacular display of pendulous, lantern-shaped flowers. A particularly attractive form it produces abundant pale pink blooms which hang elegantly from the branches in late spring and summer.
The flowers contrast beautifully with the glossy, dark green foliage, creating an exotic and highly distinctive feature in the garden. Its graceful, upright habit makes ‘Ada Hoffmann’ an excellent choice for a sheltered border, woodland garden or as a specimen shrub where its unusual flowers can be appreciated at close quarters.
Best grown in a sheltered position in partial shade, with moist, fertile and well-drained soil. It is particularly suited to mild coastal gardens.
