Description
Cornus alba ‘Aurea’ is a striking deciduous shrub grown for its luminous golden-yellow foliage and brilliant winter stem colour.
In late spring, clusters of small creamy-white flowers appear, followed by attractive white berries that are enjoyed by birds. Cornus alba ‘Aurea’ is a hardy and adaptable shrub, ideal for mixed borders, wildlife gardens, hedging and planting beside ponds or streams. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and performs best in moist, well-drained soil. Pruning hard in early spring encourages fresh growth and produces the brightest winter stem colour. It typically grows to 2–3m in height and spread.
