Description
A low-growing, spreading evergreen rock rose that forms a dense carpet of grey-green foliage, making it an excellent choice for ground cover in sunny gardens. From late spring into early summer, it is smothered with large, crisp white flowers, each marked with distinctive deep maroon blotches at the base of the petals surrounding a bright golden-yellow centre. The striking blooms attract bees and other pollinating insects, bringing wildlife into the garden.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, Cistus × dansereaui ‘Decumbens’ is exceptionally drought tolerant once established and performs particularly well in coastal, gravel and Mediterranean-style gardens. Its prostrate habit makes it ideal for cascading over walls, softening the edges of raised beds, or covering banks and slopes.
